7.8.0.5 Squishes Bugs

Hello again and welcome to the first release of 2022!  This release focused on bug fixes and bug like details, no new shiny toys I’m afraid.  But improvement is improvement!

Adobe Acrobat Recognition

Historically, Adobe used an executable for Acrobat Reader that was separate and distinct from Acrobat Pro.  Recently, they have made a change so that are now exactly the same.  We have added code to KeyAccess to look for 19770-2 tags in order to tell them apart now.  This will require the new KeyAccess agent (7.8.0.5), which you can easily roll out with our Self Update feature.  Note that this does mean some Usage information in the interim could reflect high Acrobat use because it was capturing the Reader use.  Fortunately we were able to make this adjustment, but again it’s worth noting that if a vendor makes it hard to distinguish their products it can be challenging for all of us.

Excel Format

Some customers noted that Reports saved in Excel format may not open properly in all cases.  This issue has been corrected.

SCCM ID

Although KeyAccess has code to determine the SCCM ID of the computer it is running on, there was an error in this code that led to blank SCCM IDs.  This should now be corrected so you can once again easily correlate your computer records in KeyServer to those in SCCM and other linked platforms like ServiceNow.  This again will require the new KeyAccess agent, which you can easily roll out with our Self Update feature.

Script Schedules

In some cases scheduled scripts were not running on their set schedule.  This should be improved now.  If you have not used our Admin Scripts or set up scheduled executions in the Web UI we recommend checking it out!  You can automate things like Dell Warranty date import, Jamf device Import, and Sync of data to TeamDynamix.

Web Security

We have added a new feature to allow for specifying allowed hosts for embedding our content.  If you have tight server security but still want to embed our web elements in other sites, this will be of interest.  Adjustments have also been made under the hood to generally provide more secure cross site security.

Thanks as always for your patience when we hit bumps, and your diligence in reporting glitches.  See you next release!
