Icon Legend

Overview

Icons are used throughout the KeyConfigure user interface (and also by other K2 components) to indicate a particular type of item and also to indicate some further properities or state of the item. Often and icon is used by the interface as a handle for dragging an item or as a target for a drag-and-drop action. The table below may be helplful in deciphering the meaning of all these icons.

Note: administrators familiar with K2 version 6.0 should note that the Green Dot icon has changed its meaning. In 6.1, Green Dot means "Audited" (in 6.0, it meant "Ignored").

Computers Window

Computers view toggle

Located at the top of the thumb/slider between the two main areas of the computers window, clicking here will toggle between the current and the default view (Full + Basic Computers, no prohibited, no divisions or filters applied). Clicking again returns to the current view.

Login toggle

Located in the left-hand list of the Computers window, clicking here gets you quickly to all-selected or none-selected.

Client – Full

Click to the left of this icon to have the main window display include full (retained and audited) computers. Doubleclick on the word Full to display all current full clients in a separate window.

Also appears in the Filters' Rule column when a rule has been set to grant clients full privileges. Rightclick and select "Edit Rule" to change.

In the Last Session column, this icon indicates a given computer is currently designated as full. Drag a computer onto Basic or Prohibited to change.

Client – Basic

Click to the left of this icon to have the main window display include basic (retained but not audited) computers. Doubleclick on the word Basic to display all current basic clients in a separate window.

Displays in the Last Session column when a given computer has been forbidden access to the KeyServer, either by a system setting or manually by the administrator. When computers display this icon an attempt to log on by anyone at that computer will fail with message KA-200, "The KeyServer [name] has denied [username] permission to logon. Launching a controlled program will get a similar denial, with s different message, KA-180: "The network KeyServer, which is required by KeyServer controlled programs, has denied [username] permission to logon.

Note that the message claims that the refusal is username-based when in fact it could be either user (authentication) or computer-based, depending.

Drag the computer record and drop it on the word Full in the upper left of the window to re-enable this computer's access to the KeyServer. Alternately you can doubleclick on the record and check/uncheck the Allow Connections From This Computer checkbox to limit/permit access. If neither of these actions remove the circle-slash icon (change the record to allow a prohibited computer to access the KeyServer), it may be that the KeyServer itself is full or the client computer has been prohibited for a computer-based (invalid TCP/IP Location or KeyAccess Version Number) or user-based (Authentication failure) reason.
